15 Best Torrent Sites

Rob Mardisalu

Rob Mardisalu

Torrent sites come and go. But some of them stick around for a longer period of time. In this article, I’ve included 15 most popular torrenting sites and compared their size, formats and download speed towards each other.

Editor’s note: we’re testing some new torrent sites as we speak, the article will be updated soon. Last update: 18 October 2023

Finding a site for torrenting can be very tricky.

First, the cat-and-mouse game between political authorities and some of the popular torrent sites often results in torrent sites shutting down really quickly.

Second, there are a lot of torrent sites riddled with ads and malware that provide low-quality torrent files or even fake torrents all together. To address this, we decided to compile a list of the best torrent sites for 2023 while providing the following information to give you a true assessment of the state of a torrent site:

  • Year established: This is a sort of “reliability gauge.” The older a site the more reliable it is. A popular torrent site that’s been able to survive five, 10, or more years without being shut down must be very reliable.
  • Popular content formats: We include some of the popular content formats available on the torrent sites we feature.
  • Banned in the following countries: If we have information that a torrent site has been banned in a particular country, we include this information.
  • Supports instant downloads: We indicate whether a torrent site supports instant download or not.
  • Mirrors/Alternate URLs/IPs: We include mirror sites and/or IP addresses to allow you other means of accessing a torrent site in case it has been blocked by your ISP.
  • Number of torrents: We include the total number of torrents available on a site at the time of compiling this list.
  • Speed test: We downloaded the same file from all of these websites using NordVPN and listed the results under each torrenting website (100MB/s connection out of Estonia).

Many torrent sites may be blocked in your region, so to restore access you’ll need to use a VPN. Our top choice for torrenting (based on both speed and privacy) is NordVPN –  check out our list of best VPNs for Torrenting. Not only can you access blocked torrent sites, but you can rest assured that your torrent activity won’t be traced back to you in the form of a nasty letter from your ISP.  We recommend you using NordVPN while doing all your online activities.

If you don’t want to use a VPN, you can follow this guide on how to unblock websites.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We do not encourage illegal activity. Downloading copyrighted material is often times illegal, even in the countries which allow torrenting.

    1. @Pseudonym
That’s why this site is called The Best VPN and that issue is one of the best reasons to use a VPN… to get around the blocking. Just get one that supports p2p (torrents).

      1. @Bozobub
Yeah no. Lmfao I love it & find myself saying it more and more all the time. Thanks for the chuckle.

  1. Very nice and comprehensive list. Regretfully some are not working in our region. I will check with a VPN. Thanks anyway.

    1. @Zafar Waheed
Thanks anyway? There is no ‘anyway’ If you get a VPN that supports p2p (torrents) then you can use any of those sites. You could have left off the anyway and just said Thanks.

  2. Not surprisingly, The Pirate Bay torrents site is banned in a large number of countries. Some of these include the United Kingdom, Australia, Indonesia, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Russia, and Saudi Arabia. If you’re not sure whether it s been banned in your country, a simple Google search will do the right trick. Using your local Google search is usually the best way to check for any banned torrents site. has been up and down year after year. As mentioned, it s also blocked by many countries and internet providers.

  3. I love 1337x.to! It has full seasons of everything. Sometimes it doesn’t even have individual episodes of a serues but it usually always has the full seasons (no RaR or zip files, just individual episodes in one download) which is definitely the best because if you torrent regularly, you know you can disect the season before or during downloading so what you care wbout most is that all the episides are availablw.
Shows & movies are uploaded to the site often before they even air or release. Fully up to date with all the latest software. Its fantastic for everything: phone apps, software, TV series, movies, music, and they have a great selection of porn also as well as an IMDb link fir every series ir movie on it’s download page.
The only thing I wish they had was the ability to search through the different individual categories (movies, TV, software, adult, other) further back than a month. You can search the categories like say movies but the only options are: trending today, trending this week, or trending this month. I wish it was more like thepiratebay where I can search movies then click ‘date added’ to get a chronological list of all the movies or click ‘seeds’ and get a list of all the movies in order of amount of seeds available for it. This is minor however because usually if I’m looking further back than that, I know the name of the series I’m looking for so I can just search for that.
I don’t know how or where you got your download speed numbers from because I regularly hit 2.5 to 3 MB/s sometimes up to 4 pulling off of 1337x and that’s on a 3 bar connection with a cable TV/WiFi hotspot that’s WiFi connected not ethetnet. I rarely drop to the 686.3 KB/s you have them down for and that’s only very rarely on obscure files with very few seeds/peers.
I really think you should check em again. Theyre better than at least 6 that are ranked higher in your rankings.

Another one I love is eztv.re. its specialized though as its only TV series, but I swear they have every TV series in existence. I have yet to find a show somewhere else if it isn’t on eztv. They get the latest episode uploads of all the TV series if not before, then the second they are released. The layout is that the uploads are presented as soon as theyre on the site so the main framework is totally chronological so I just skim thru the latest uploads to find what I want. But they also have other ways to find your series: title search if you know the series your looking for, a calendar that shows what series are on which days of the week, there’s an alphabetical list of every series that also tells if the series is active ir has been cancelled and if active, if its currently in a season or ud its on a break and if on break, when it will be back, and there’s a countdown list that tells when series are due to continue their season or start a new season. You also can find all the info about a show on its info page link such as lists if seasons & eouseides including episode names, when they aired or are due to air, cast as well as all the episodes/seasons that are available to download and how many seeds/peers they currently have. If that’s not enough, there’s an IMDb link for all the shows on their show page also.
I think you should consider this site as well even if you add ‘specialized’ category like old SixTorrents that only had movies so maybe it would qualify for torrent sites specializing in TV series ir something like that.

Thank you very much for your rankings and for letting me throw in my two cents. Fingers crossed you’ll consider an uprank for 1337x & maybe a specialized ranking for eztv. Also, thank you for your time, I know its valuable.

    1. Nice essay/review to complement the main article. Kind of you to share the knowledge. The frustration of not finding decent email verification software on a dozen torrent sites is lessened by knowing I can get every TV series. (Now off to find “My Favorite Martian,” heh heh)
