For UK internet users juggling multiple devices, this makes Surfshark’s starting price of £1.28 a month all the more appealing. You’d be forgiven for thinking, then, that Surfshark falls short in another area such as performance or protection but that’s just not the case.

Surfshark worked seamlessly with BBC iPlayer, Netflix UK, and Channel 4. Unlike NordVPN, it was unable to access ITVX however. An average speed drop of just 4.41% on EU servers provides competitive performance, which means less buffering during peak hours.

The 4,500 server network across 100 countries isn’t as massive as that of NordVPN or Proton VPN, but it gets the job done, and it’s nice to see servers cover four different UK cities so you can find a fast server close by.

This VPN operates a strict no-logs policy which was audited by Deloitte in 2023 and 2025, reassuring users that even if data were to be requested by UK authorities, there’s simply nothing of significance to provide.

ExpressVPN is a premium VPN service that offers a blend of performance and protection. It’s also one of the easiest VPNs to use, with clean, clutter-free apps as well as live chat support that’s available 24/7.

The Lightway protocol maintains stable connections even when networks get congested. With 1000s servers across 105 locations, you get reliable UK access points in five different locations across London.

We managed to access BBC iPlayer, Channel 4, and ITVX via ExpressVPN’s UK servers but it did fail to work with Netflix UK which is a shame when all of the other VPNs I’ve recommended managed without issue.

Note that ExpressVPN has subjected itself to more independent audits than most VPNs. British Virgin Islands jurisdiction means this no-logs VPN isn’t directly subject to UK data retention laws.

Better still, this VPN boasts a 100% success rate with the UK streaming platforms we tested it with. We were able to stream content on BBC iPlayer, Channel 4, Netflix UK, and ITVX. That said, IPVanish struggles with some regional Netflix libraries.
